(1) Petition of the Whitawyers before the Court of Aldermen for Amalgamation with the Leathersellers (1479). To the Right honourable lord the Mair and his right wirshipful Bretheren the Aldremen of the Citee of London mekely besechen your goode lordship and maistershippes the goode ffolkes ofthe Craft of Whitawyers of the said Citee, That where afore this there have been a sufficiaunt nombre of the said Craft aswell in clothyng of a lyverey as withoute to bere all charges after their hanoor for the wirship of the saidCitee, It is so nowe that there is of the same Craft so fewe persones in nombre that they have no choise to make any wardeyns to Rule the same Craftnor todo any thyng that might be to the wirship of the Citee aforesaid ; wherefore pleas it your said goode Lordship and maistershippes for the consideracion aboue saide, ffor asmoche as your said besechers dayly medil and deale with the Craft of 7* lethersellers of the said citee and the said craft of lethersellers with the said Craft of whitawyers, to ordeyn and establissh that your saide besechers may be from hensfurth of the ffeolaship of the said Craft of lethersellers, and all those persones that nowe be of the said Craft of witawyers chaunge their Copies into the said Craft of lethersellers, and also that the said Craft of lethersellers hereafter haue the serche and correccion of all maner lether whitawyed accordyng to the Ordenaunces thereof made, and that all ordenaunces before tyme made for the Craft of whitawyers be from hensfurth under the Rule and correccion of the wardeyns of the said Craft of lethersellers for the tyme being, and that hereafter no persone be bounde apprentice nor admitted into the said Craft of whitawyers, but onely into the said Craft of lethersellers, And your said besechers shall daily pray for your prosperitees, duryng their lyves.

(2) Petition of the Leathersellers before the same Court for the Amalgamation of the Glovers-Pursers into their Company ( 1502) . In the name of Godde and of oure blessed lady Seint mary the vyrgyn, his glorious & blessed moder, amen. For Asmuche as among Alle thynges most plesaunt to Godde in this transitory worlde after due loue had unto hym, is the love Amyte and Gode Accord to be hadde amonges alle Christien people and in especiall amonges theym that be daily Associate togiders, that like as theyr continuell conversacion by reason of their dealyng must daily be hadde and accustumed, so may they be knytte togyders in true amyte cheritably and kindely dealyng, of the whiche not only groweth such pleasure to Godde but also the common weall and prosperite of all theym that in suche wise deale, so alweys that theyr said delyng be put and set under a due order gode and ordinate Rule; and for asmuche as through the gode and vertous mediacion of the Right honourable Sir John Shaa knyght, now mayre of this noble Citee of London and of my maisters his brethern thaldermen of the same It is entended and full purposed by the Grace of god for a parfite Union to be hadde and joynyng togiders of ij severall bodys or ffeaulisships into one hole corporat body or ffeaulisship, that is to wytte of the ffeaulisship of Glouerspursers of this Citee in to the ffelisship of the lethersellers of the same Cittee, and so contynue from hensforth for euermore as one hole body and ffeaulisship corporat under the name of the lethersellers.

(3) Petition of the Pouchmakers before the same Court concerning their Amalgamation with the Lethersellers (1517) . To the right honorable my lorde the mayer of this noble Citie ofLondon and his brethern the aldremen of the same.

Moosthumbly besechyn your good lordship and maistershippis your suppliant the generalite and ffelishipe of powchemakers ffremen of this Citie and enfraunchised in the seid Craft, that Where yt hath pleased you by auctoritie of this honorable court for a good consideracion to annex knyt and make in unicion the seid your besechers in to the Craft and mistere of lethersellers & hereafter to abide & Contynewe in one felishipe and one name, one assembly and one bodye, as all comprehended by the name of lethersellers: that yt may therfor please you in clere accom- plishment of the seid your decree afore made, to accept admitte and alowe all synguler the good ordnaunces and Rules which apperteyn to the seid Craft of powchemakers and haue before tyme Ratified and confermedbyyour noble predecessours as ferme & stable to remayn with ther unicion and translacion of name, as theyhaue be used heretofore,withoute any adnullyng of the seid good Rules and ordenaunces ; and ferthermore that they may frely be translated or transmuted in the seid name of lethersellers without any exaccion of ffyne to be made, asked and levyed in this behalf, like as other pore ffelishippis in suche maner transmuted have done. And they shall ever be bound to pray for your good prosperities long to endure to goddys pleasure.
