N their moste humble wise shewen unto yo' moste excellent Ma" your poore Comons, in this your int plament IN assembled, That where aswell your moste dearest father of famous memorie King Henry the eight, as also your moste worthie Graundefather King Henry the Seventhe and other your noble Progenito" King of this your Realme of Englande, tyme owt of mynde have had grunted unto them and enjoyed of the Comens of the same Realme for the tyme being, by authoritie of Parliament, for the defence of the same now your Realme and the keping and-saufegarde of the Seas, for the entercourse of march'undize savelye to come into the same your Realme, and to passe owt of the same, certaine somes of Monye named Subsidyes, of all manner Good and March'undizes cominge in or going owt of the same your Realme, And forasmuche as we your [poore saide'] Comens have peeived your Ma good favo' and will towardes your saide poore Comens, had aswell in the defence of us and this your Realme against your Rebelle the Scott, as allso the keping and sure defending of the Seas against all parsons intending the disturbaunce and invasion of this your Realme and us your saide Comens, to our greate comforte and rejoysinge as cawse requirethe, and to your Ma great costes charges and expenses, and allso not dowbting the sequele of the same yf nede shall require; We therfore your saide poore Comens, as bownden of dewtie, humblie desire yo' excellent Ma" beninglye and favorablye to take accepte and receive [this] o' poore grunte hereafter ensuinge, as gr'unted of trewe harte and good Wille which we beare to your Highnes, towardes your saide greate costes charges and expences aswell heretofore expended and

layed owt as hereafter by yo' Ma" for the cawses aforesaide when nede shall require to be expended and layed owt, as the first fruict of o' good wille and hartte towardes your Highnes, althoughe the same doo or hereafter shall nothing in effecte countervayle your saide Costes Charges and Expences which we be not hable fullie to gratefie by anny meanes: First, We your saide poore Comens by thadvise and assent of the Lordes sõuall and temporall in this Grant of Tonnage your int plament assembled and by thauctoritie of the same, to the intent aforesaide, give and grunte to youe o' Wine imported saide Soucraigne Lorde one Subsidye called Tonnage, that is to saye, of everye Tonne of Wyne cominge or that shall and 3. more on or is come into this your Realme by waye of March'undize the some of three shillinge, and so after the rate; and of imported by Alienss everye Toonne of swete Wyne aswell Malmeseye as other that shall or is come into the same your Realme by everye or anny Marchaunt Alyen, aswell by the March'unt of Haunce and Allmayne as by anny other March'unt Straunger of what nation so ever he be, three shilling, and so after the rate over and above the three shilling afore gr'unted; and of everye [awlne'] of Renishe Wyne cominge or that shall or is come into this your Realme by waye of March'undize, by everye or anny March'unte Denizon or Alyen of what natyon so ever he be, twelve pence: And allso one other Subsidye called Powndage, that is to saye, of all manner Goodf and March'undizes of everye March'unt Denison and Alyen what so ever he be caryed and to be caryed owt of this your saide Realme or brought or to be brought into the same by waye of March'undizes, of the vallewe of everye Twentie shilling of the same good and march'undizes twelve pens, and so after the rate; And of (1) twentie shillinge vallewe of Tynne and Pewter vessell caryed owt of this Realme by anny and everye March'unte Alyen xij d. over and above the xij d. aforesaide: Excepte allwayes and foreprised owt of this gr'unte of Subsidye of Powndage, all manner of Woollen Clothe made and wrought or that shalbe made and wrought within this your Realme of Englande, and by everye or anny March'unte Denizon and not borne Alyen caryed or to be caryed owt of this your saide Realme, and all manner Wooll Woolfelle and Hydes and Back of Lether allso carryed or to be carryed owt of this your Realme; And all Wynes and all manner of freshe fishe and bestyall cominge or that is or shall come into the same yo' Realme

AND further we your saide poore Comens by thadvise assent and aucthoritie aforesaide give and gr'unte unto youe o' saide Soveraigne Lorde for the cawses above rehersed one other Subsidye of all manner Woolle Woollfelle and lether caryed or to be caryed owt of this your Realme in manner and fo'me following, that is to saie; Of everye March'unt Denizon of and for everye sacke of Wooll xxxiijs. iiijd.; and of everye CCxl" Woolfelle xxxiiijs. iiijd.; and of and for everye Last of Hydes and Back of everye suche March'unt Denizon lxvjs. viijd.; and allso of everye March'unte Str'ungier not borne your liege man, aswell those that be made Denizons as hereafter shalbe made by tres patente or otherwise as all other March'unt Str'ungers, of and for every Sacke of Wöll lxvjs. viijd.; and of and for everye CCxl Wollefelle lxvjs. viij d.; And allso for everye Laste of Hydes and Backę lxxiij s. iiijd.; and so of all the saide Wolle Woollfelle Hydes and Backes and everye of them after the rate, that so is or shalbe caryed: to have take enjoye and pceive the Subsidyes aforesaide and everye of them, and every pte and pcell of them to your Highnes from the first daye of your moste noble Reigne, during your life naturall

AND further we your saide poore Comens most humblie desire yo' Ma" that it maye be enacted by your Highnes The said Grants by thadvise and assent of the Lordes aforesaide and us your saide Comens and by the foresaide aucthoritie of this int plament assembled, That the gyftes and grunte aforesaide shalbe good and effectuall according to the trewe meanynge of the same: And that it maye be further enacted by auctoritie aforesaide, that yf anny Wynes goodę march'undizes Wolle Wollfelle hydes and back of Leather aforesaide or other thing afore specefyed, wherof the Subsidies aforesaide or anny of them is or shalbe hereafter dewe, shall at anny tyme hereafter during the tyme aforesaide be shipped or putt into anny bote Crayer Shipp or Vessell to that Intent to be carryed into the ptes of beyonde the Sea, or elle be brought from the pties of beyonde the Sea into anny porte haven Creeke or other place of this your Realme by waye of March'undize and there layed on lande, The Subsidye aforesaide of the same dewe or to be dewe by reasone of this gr'unte not payed, or the Collecto' of the same Subsidie not agreed wh for the same, according to the trewe meaninge and Intent of these aforesaide grunt and everye of them, That then from the first daye of Marche nexte cominge, and not before, all the saide wynes goodę march'undizes woolf Woolfelle hydes and back and other the premises aforesaide and everye pte and pcell thereof, so shipped or elle put into anny bote crayer or other Vessell aforesaide to thintent aforesaide or brought into this Realme and there layed on Lande as is allso aforesaide, shall remayne forfaite to your Highnes during the tyme aforesaide; The one Moitye therof or the vallewe therof to your Highnes, and the other Moitye to him or them that shall sease the same or sue for the same: And that it maye please yo' Highnes that Merchants shall all march'unte aswell Denizens as Straungers cominge into this your Realme be well and honestlic intreated and demeaned, as theye were in the tyme of yo' aforesaide noble progenito", withowt oppression to them to be doon, paying the Subsidyes abovesaide

AND further that it maye be enacted by thauctoritie aforesaide, that yf anny goode March'undizes Wolle Wollfelle Proviso for allowing or Lether aforesaide or anny pte therof, of anny march'unte Denizon naturallye borne your Leege Man, which shall to Natives the Bubaidy paid on passe owt of this your saide Realme after the saide first daye of Marche during the tearme of this gifte and gr'unte, Goods lost at Bes. shall happen to be taken with ennemyes or pyratę uppon the Sea, or peryshed by Infortune in anny Shipp or Shippe that shall happen to be taken or pished within the tyme of the saide gr'unte, wherof the Subsidies aforesaide or anny of them to your Highnes dewe or to be dewe is or shalbe in fourme aforesaide dewlie paide or agreed for, without fraude or collusyon, and suche Losse or Losses as byn before rehersed be founde and proved before the Treasourer of Englande or the Chief Baron of your Exchequer for the tyme being, by examinacón of the same March'unt yf theye be on Live or of their executors or administrato" yf theye be deade, or twoo trewe credyble parsons sworne or other reasonable witnesses and profes sworne witnessing the same March'undizes so to be lost or pished, That then the same

March'unte Denizons, that were or shalbe owners of the aforesaide goodę march'undizes Woll Wollfelle hydes or other March'undizes aforesaide as shalbe so perished or loste, yf theye be on Life or their executo" & administrato" yf theye be deade, and everye of them, by force and vertewe of this Acte when them lykethe during the saide tearme shall [mowe'] shipp as muche wõll wollfelle hydes or other March'undize, in the same porte or portes in which the same Woll Wollfeliť hydes or other good and March'undizes aforesaide so loste and perished were or shalbe shipped, withowt anny of the Subsidies aforesaide now gr'unted to be had or payed therfore to youe in anny wise; And that all suche profes of the premises so to be lost or peryshed be certefyed into your Ch'uncerye by yo' saide Treasourer or Chief Baron, there to remayne of Recorde, and after suche certificate made the Ch'uncelo' of Englande, or the Lorde Kepar of yo' Greate Seale for the tyme being, doo make and deliver unto the saide March'unte their executo" or administrato" or anny of them or to their atto'neye or atto'neys in that bihalfe or anny of them, as manny and suche Writte and Warr'unte, to be directed aswell to the Collecto" of the Subsidyes aforesaide or anny or everye of them for the tyme being, as to the Treasourer and Barons of yo' Exchequer for the tyme being, as shalbe requisite and nedefull for the saide March'unt their executo" or administrato" or their Attornye or Atto'neys or anny of them, or the saide Collecto' or anny of them, to have for the opteyninge aswell of the Shipping as of allowance therof

AND further that everye March'unte Denizen, that shall shipp hereafter anny Wooll Wollfelle Hydes or anny other Goodf and March'undizes in anny Carryke or Galleye, shall paye to yo' Ma" during the tyme aforesaide all manner Customes and all Subsidyes aforesaide as any Alyen borne owt of this your Realme

(*) PROVIDED allwaies that no Acte Statute or Ordyn'unce, had made or to be made in this înt plament, be in anny wise hurtefull or prejudicyall unto the March'unt of the Hans in Almayne, having the howse in the Citie of London comonlie called Guilhalda Theutonicoą, nor to any fr'unchesies liberties or privilege to them or their predecesso's before this tyme had agreed gr'unted or confirmed, nor to anny lawfull usages by them or by their predecessor" before this tyme used; but that the saide March'unt and their Successo" have holde and enjoye all their saide frunchises liberties and free usages, according to suche grunte confirmacons and agrement as by the Kinge and his [nobe'] progenito's Kinge of Englande have byn agreed made and grunted and had to the saide March'unte and their predecesso", and according to their lawful usages in everye thing, by what so ever other name or names the same March'unt or anny of them be called or named; any Acte Statute or Ordyn'unce made or to be made in this pnt plament to the contrarie notw"standing: this int Proviso to endure and contynewe unto thend of this int plament
