Deal, Dec. 15. On the 12th and 13th instant came into the Downs the Unity, Captain Wonacot commander, from the Canaries; the William and Thomas, Captain Long, and the Greyhound, Captain Buckeley, from Alicant; and the Unity Ketch, Captain Franklin, from St. Sebastian's. There are at present in the Downs the Eaton Frigate, Captain Philips commander, the Howland, and the Fame, bound to the East Indies; the Happy Return for Guinea; and about 18 or 20 other outward-bound merchant ships, which will proceed on their several voyages with the first fair wind.
Editorial note: Internal issue heading: to PonDap December 18. 1699.. Split from the same mixed segment as the Plymouth report and normalized conservatively where ship names were damaged. Mapped to Deal and the Downs anchorage area. Retained because it cleanly connects the Downs with East India and Guinea traffic.
