Thirske, 11 April 1605 [Presented by the Jury), Wilfred Fewster of Byland, for retaining in his service Christopher Blacke without the licence or certificate of the said Blacke's late master.
Stokesley, 9 July, 1605, John Turner, late servant to John Welles of Heworth, for leaving his service before his term, without cause for it duly assigned before some Justice. Seth Stott, constable of Huntingdon, for permitting the said John Turner to stay in the said vill, notwithstanding the above offence.
Richmond, 11 July, 1605, William Nelson of Northallerton, indicted for using the art and mystery of a glover, applies for copy etc. [Bound by Recognizances in £10 to presente his Traverse.]
THE STATUTE OF ARTIFICERS Richmond, 4 Oct., 1605, William Nelson presents himself, pleads not guilty, and is acquitted by the jury on the ground that he proves, producing Indenture dated 37 Elizabeth, his apprenticeship to Anthony Walker of Northallerton, to whom he served as apprentice for seven years, in right of which etc. He is therefore discharged. Thirske, 17 Jan., 1605-1606, John Bulmer of West Cottam, husbandman, for hiring servants without recording their names and salaries before the Chief Constable, contra formam statuti &c.; and also Robert Harrison and William Keldell,both of the same, for the like.
Thirske, 29 April, 1606, Thomas Surr and William Hunter of Huton-super-Darwent, labourers, quod usi sunt sive exercuerunt misterium sive artem laniatoris, Anglice butcher's trade, not having served any apprenticeship to the same. Thomas Hungate of Bulmer, gentleman, for keeping in his service without any certificate one Ursula Fitchet, from Martinmas last till now the said Ursula being a duly contracted and hired servant with Thomas Bamburgh of Cramb, and although she the said Ursula, being brought on a warrent before Sir William Bamburgh, Knt., J.P., owned the contract and was ordered to return to her former service.
Helmesley, 8 Jan., 1606-1607, Robert Smith of Oswaldchurch, for hiring at Kirkby Moreside one Giles Aysley, being the hired servant of William Wasse of Easterlie, without the license of the said Wasse &c.
The inhabitants of Thirkleby (Great and Little) for refusing to give the names of their servants and and their wages to the constables of the said townes or to the Head Constables.
The inhabitants of Kilbornes, Over and Nether, for the like and for giving their servants more wages than the statute doth allow.
Thomas Gibson, of Easingwold, for reteyning and accepting into his service one William Thompson without shewing to the Head Officer, Curate or Churchwarden any lawfull testimonial.
William Burnett, of Bawsker, for refusing to pay pence for entering his servants names.
Cuthbert Ivyson, of Awdwarke, husbandman, for retaining Tim Johnson, servant, at husbandry for 46 s., contrary to the rates assessed by the Justices.

Malton, Jan. 12, 1607. Jaine Kay of Fawdington within the Constablery of Bagby, for denying to give the names of her servantes, nor ticketts nor rates of her servantes.
Alice Sharrow, of New Milnes in Seazey parish, for taking more wages of William Bell of Rascall than, etc. Malton, Jan. 12, 1607. Thomas Wawne of Thorp Rawe, Rymer his servant, exceeding yeoman, for giving wages to the rate sett downe by the Justices. Thomas Cooke of Aiskewe, webster, for trading,having never served vii years' apprentice. ..
Robert Pybus of Beedall, for buying barley to malt to sell without license, and also useth the trade of malting, he being a very young man, unmarried, which is contrary to the Statute. Helmesley, July 12, 1608. Robert Richardson of Sawdon, carpenter, for useinge that trade, having been but two yeares apprentize.
Francis Storry of Gristropp, carpenter, for retayninge one John Milborne and John Palmer as apprentices without indenture.
