Helmesley 12 July 1608. Jeffrey Milborne, Constable of Kyrkleatham, presenteth Raphe Rockby of Marske, Esq. in the Constablery of Kirk leatham, for converting and laying downe of 60 acres of arrable land into pasture, viz. in a close called Wycar close xx acres or thereaboutes, in Milflat close about xx acres, and in the Uperston and West Yates about xx acres, contrary &c. Will Marwood of Busby, Gentleman, for decaying of xxx acres of arrable land or thereaboutes, and converting of xxxtie acres of arrable land or thereaboutes, the same from tillage unto pasture or meadowe, and tilled nothing in the same parish in lue thereof contrary &c.; which said acres is lying in the fieldes of Carleton called the Sike Close. [super sacramentum Joh. Fishwick, Const. de Carleton.] Fr. Hall of Worsall, thelder, for that he hath converted or layd to pasture all the tyllage belonging to twoe oxganges of land at Worsall ; Rob. Metcalf of the same for the like decaye of tillage belonging to five oxganges and [not] plowing any such quantitie or qualitie in lieu thereof &c.
